The beauty about waffles is that it gives a creative licence to have it as a savoury with eggs or the popular way which is with something sweet. I have taken the sweet route for this one but instead of plain flour I have experimented with wholemeal flour. They turned out to be superbly light and perfect to get that goodness by wholemeal fibre intake. 

Servings 8 waffles


  • 1,½ cups whole-wheat flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ¼ cup butter,melted
  • 1,1/2 tbsp honey
  • berries, cream,honey for topping


  • Whisk together all the wet ingredients until fully combined.
  • Combine all the dry ingredients and sift through a sieve until the lumps disappear.
  • Once the waffle iron is ready, spray some oil & pour 2 small ladles of the batter.
