Servings 8-10 cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup butter , melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large + 1 egg yolk egg
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 170°C and line the baking trays with parchment paper.
  • Mix together flour, salt and baking soda in a bowl.
  • Beat the butter and sugars together with an electric mixer until fully combined in a separate mixing bowl. Add in the egg, egg yolk and vanilla extract and mix.
  • Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients. Don’t over mix.
  • Gently stir in 1/3 cup chocolate chips in the dough and scoop out dough into ball shapes on the prepared parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake for 12-14 minutes.
  • Once removed from the oven, immediately place 3-4 chocolate chips with the point side up on the top of each cookie. You may want to decorate a few cookies differently like I have done here, so feel free to place smarties and monster eyes on top of some of the cookies.
  • Melt remaining chocolate chips in the microwave on low power. Cut the corner off of a ziplock bag and spoon the melted chocolate into this bag. Now draw spider legs on the sides of the chocolate chips. Ensure the hole is very tiny for making spider legs.
