Milk Pedas or Milk Fudge!!

Description: Peda is a very popular Indian sweet made with milk solids, sugar and some flavourings like cardamom, rose essence and saffron.

Servings 7-8 pedas


  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • ½ tsp rose essence (optional)
  • Pistachio slivers and saffron for top up


  • Combine and mix well milk, milk powder and sugar in a heavy bottomed pan.
  • On low flame, stir the mixture for 10-12 minutes until all the milk has evaporated, the mixture is no longer a slurry and is dry enough so that it doesn’t stick on your hands.
  • You can also add cardamom powder or rose essence at this point, if preferred. Cool down the mix, roll in between the parchment paper to 1/2 inch thickness, sprinkle some pistachios and saffron and again roll lightly. Use a round cookie cutter for the shape.
