Description: Peda is a very popular Indian sweet made with milk solids, sugar and some flavourings like cardamom, rose essence and saffron.
Ingredients
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 cup milk powder
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- ½ tsp rose essence (optional)
- Pistachio slivers and saffron for top up
Instructions
Combine and mix well milk, milk powder and sugar in a heavy bottomed pan.
On low flame, stir the mixture for 10-12 minutes until all the milk has evaporated, the mixture is no longer a slurry and is dry enough so that it doesn’t stick on your hands.
You can also add cardamom powder or rose essence at this point, if preferred. Cool down the mix, roll in between the parchment paper to 1/2 inch thickness, sprinkle some pistachios and saffron and again roll lightly. Use a round cookie cutter for the shape.
