Description:
It’s a very popular Indian mithai (sweet) made of roasted gram flour and sugar syrup with a generous garnish of nuts like pistachios, almonds and cashews!
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup ghee
- 2 cups gram flour
- 4 tbsp fine semolina
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
Sugar syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
Garnish
- chopped pistachios, cashews, almonds, rose petals and edible golden leaf (optional)
Instructions
Roast gram flour and semolina with ghee on low flame in a heavy bottomed pan until it is aromatic and golden brown in colour (around 20-25 minutes). Keep aside.
Simple syrup - Combine water with sugar and boil for around 7-8 minutes until it has reached a sticky consistency.
Add sugar syrup, cardamom powder to roasted gram flour and semolina mixture and combine quickly. Pour this mixture immediately in a lined tin, garnish with chopped nuts and let it set for an hour at room temperature. Slice into pieces with a knife and enjoy!
